Description
A plywood nest box suitable for Barn Owls
Siting
This plywood box should be installed on a tree in open farmland, an isolated hedgerow or woodland edge ensuring that the entrance hole is clearly visible. Installing two boxes in close proximity to each other will accommodate the male during the breeding season. Secure the triangular shell to the tree with coach bolts or similar strong fixing (not supplied) and then screw the front panel shelf to the shell, ensuring the shelf is secure.
Maintenance
The nest box must be cleaned once a year in the late autumn. During the cleaning, any remaining nesting material can be removed. The reliability of the suspension must also be checked annually.
